Developing a Water Science Strategy (WSS) for B.C. is a commitment in Living Water Smart: BC’s Water Plan. Developing a WSS is a collaborative process with multiple partners to produce a strategy that can be used by organizations across the province to facilitate the exchange of water related knowledge between those that create and hold this knowledge and those that use it to make decisions, support policy development and create operational procedures.

For more information on what the BC WSS may include, download the discussion paper [PDF 852KB].

Input from the BC Water Symposium, as well as comments from an advisory group, will be used to generate a framework for the WSS by 2014.

BC Water Symposium

Thank-you to all participants, volunteers and sponsors for making the BC Water Symposium a success!

The BC Water Symposium marked the beginning of the dialogue to create a Water Science Strategy. Over 200 people participated in the Symposium that was Simulcast online and at locations in Prince George, Victoria, and Kelowna. The Symposium brought together a diverse group of leading experts that both create and use knowledge to manage water resources and aquatic ecosystems.

BC Water Symposium plenary speakers included science experts from B.C. and Australia and First Nations people with long-time experience with water.
